There is SO much to celebrate here in Davie County! Our county is one of twenty finalists across the nation for the All-American City Award. On the Davie County Blog website (www.daviecountyblog.com), Jeanne Baxter White explains “the award is actually a competitive forum of best practices open to cities, counties, tribes, and community organizations of all types.” With the theme of Creating Thriving Communities through Youth Engagement, I’m sure you’ll agree it makes sense Davie County is a finalist. Our schools, civic and business leaders, and non-profits consistently collaborate to provide unmatched opportunities for students across our county. This focus on our youth is a focus on our future!
At our annual meeting in March, we celebrated those who give of themselves. The Chamber recognized our outgoing Chairman, Keith Beck and our Chamber Ambassador of the Year, Brandon James. Both gentlemen exemplify a commitment to others through their service to our business community via the Chamber. We also had the honor to present the Chamber’s Business of the Year and the E. C. Tatum Humanitarian Award. Owners of The Station General Store & Taproom, Suzanne and Bryan Lakey, were recognized for their resilience as small business owners and their efforts to work collectively with other downtown Mocksville businesses. E.C. Tatum Award recipients Phil and Darlene Fuller were honored for their extraordinary, impactful, and tireless efforts supporting the Davie County community.
