As summer fades into golden autumn…our thoughts turn to all things fall-ish. But Fall in Davie County is much more than just pumpkin spice season!
Here we make the most of these last warm days. Our towns are full of lively entertainment and healthy outdoor activities that we are happy to share with you.
Be part of the fun at our local festivals where you will discover great food, music, and amusement for kids and grown-ups. Step into history and explore the charms of historic downtown Mocksville with a walking tour. Walk, run and bike as you explore the quaint towns, nature trails, vineyards, fields, and country roads of beautiful Davie County.
Annual Not-to-Miss Events
People come from all around for the Carolina Bible Camp Bluegrass Festival. Voted the Best North Carolina Festival in 2019 by Carolina Country readers, the festival features the best in Bluegrass bands and family fun. Visit their website to read more about the musical lineup, food vendors, and kid’s activities.
An annual Tour of Farmington is a cycling event in the Farmington historic district. This 13-23-43-63 mile bike event is hosted by the Farmington Community Center and your ticket price includes breakfast, lunch, plus miles of lovely scenery and open country roads.
RiverWalk Arts Festival celebrates the creativity of the Davie County artistic community. View original artwork by North Carolina artists in Bermuda Run at the Town Center on Kinderton Boulevard. The all-day festival includes a variety of foods, live music, and the Imagination Station for the children.
The Oaks Festival is an October experience with something for everyone. Artisans and local artists will be there. Shop for quality handcrafted goods and even Christmas items for early holiday shopping! Food vendors will be there (of course) and there will be free kids’ activities, and live entertainment all day all along Main Street in downtown Mocksville.
Don’t miss the Super Hero Sprint and the Main Street 5K. Cheer on the runners or register to participate yourself as we celebrate community and the many heroes who make a difference. Children from 2-12 will have a chance to transform into their favorite heroes and sprint down the center of Main Street! The first 100 registrants get both a race bib AND a superhero cape! The next day, the Main Street 5K includes the race, awards, and then a post-race celebration. See the race route and register at the website. Then follow Main Street Racing on Facebook for updates.
Unique Activities
We are all excited about the Fall Sunflower Maze at The Fields at Sunflower Trail! They have U-pick flowers (zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers) so bring your bucket and clippers. They will have pumpkins, T-shirts and more. This pet and family-friendly maze is even open to professional photographers who may want to grab shots with the fields of flowers as a backdrop!
September also marks the Muscadine and Scuppernong harvest. Check out the Visit NC Farms App for where to pick your own!
As always, the Granite Ridge Farms Corn Maze pumps up our Fall Fridays and Saturdays with live music, hayrides, the jumbo slide, and a petting zoo!
Skybrooke Farm in Mocksville is a family-run farm you can visit (by appointment). They raise sheep and alpacas and even have a llama. They can tailor a learning experience for your family or small group and even host parties. Fall is the perfect time to learn more about their wool, yarn and the fiber arts!
Mark your calendars for Woofstock. This family and pet-friendly event has live music, vendors, a silent auction, and food trucks all to support pet adoptions, spay and neuter programs, and food for pets of low-income pet owners. RayLen Vineyards & Winery is the venue for this event, and they have many things going on all year long so be sure to sign up for our weekly event email or follow us on Facebook or Instagram for reminders and updates.
